Well with such complicated onboard software and a PC application in the works, I figure we are going to need an offical 9500i Bugs & Troubleshooting thread.
I figure I'll submit the first:
1. Marking Locations: It seems that while the detector is alerting, it is not possible to mark a location. You first need to mute the alert, then try to hit mark.
Why would I be doing this? I was passing a speed camera at the same time I was getting hit with radar.... the darn thing would not let me mark the camera location till I'd first hit mute.
2. Having to filter the same false location twice... once from each location. This is not a bug, but rather a troubleshooting issue. Sometimes if you mark a false source while approaching in one direction, you may still get an alert when coming from the other side.
Whats happening here (I believe) is that if you lock out a false alert while you are on the approach... you are marking a location further away from the actual source as the coordinate. As a consequence, when you approach from the other side, you are out of the "false alert range" and you get the same false again.
Best practice would be to wait till you get as close as possible to the false source, then lock it out. This way the coordinate will be as close as possible to the actual source, and thus you should be covered no matter which side you approach from.
