What rev -- If you have experience with both, do you find the be the best. By the best I mean to you, which gives the best range, that is really all I am concerned with. I feel my rev.5 does well around town, and also on the highway, I dono.. just curious. Pros, Cons.. whatever. Just lemmie know how you feel about em.

I have tried both. The Rev 5 is better on K band, but POP falses much more frequently. The Rev 6.1 is MUCH quieter on POP, but decreased K range kinda worried me. On a straight highway with the 6.1, I came across a "your speed" trailer on K band and the sign registered my speed fully 5 seconds before I got the first peep out of the RD. Using a Bushnell K band radar gun I was repeatedly able to show that my Rev 5 consistently alerted first. Granted, this is not a police grade gun, but it does prove the point adequately.

On the other hand, the 6.1 has not done the SELF CAL thing in the 6 months I've had it. I usually get a SELF CAL once a month or so with my rev 5, but never SERVICE REQUIRED.

So, it's a toss up. I am much more comfortable with the K range w/rev5 even if I do get a stray SELF CAL.

One more note - Escort claims there is absolutely no difference between the 2 versions, but think about this. Why did they even bother to change the rev # if there was no difference? Upon opening the units, the circuit boards look entirely different, so I am led to believe they are not identical in any respect.

Can anyone else with a Rev 6.1 verify any close encounters on K band?

I received word from Escort support that there is indeed a difference in rev 5.0 and 6.1. Rev. 6.1 and the 9500i have increased filtering for the "noted increase" in K band "non LEO" signals. I wrote back telling them that since you can now "lock out" any "falses" with the 9500i they need to remove this extra filtering through a software update with the USB port and give us maximum sensitivity.

Yep. That's what many say. The increased filtering on the rev. 6.1 has cut down the K band detection range, but also seems to "false" less.

I would rather have my old Rev 5 than my Rev 6.1.

The filtering differences between the two were evident, but all of my rds are always in highway mode. I thought the filters were only activated in auto or city mode and mainly affected X band.

Maskellxx...does your rev 5 ever SELF CAL

Yeah.. I think I am sticking with my rev 5. I don't wanna spend 80 bucks anyway! No it has yet to SELF CAL.. or atleast I have never seen it happen.

Yes! I agree. Since we can TrueLock Door Openers and whatever else is a non LEO we should have 100% sensitivity like the V1.

Also, A, C, and H modes are no longer necessary with TrueLock coupled with the GPS Speed Sensitive feature. I would have 50% sensitivity from 25 mph and under and 100% sensitivity at 26 mph and over.

Did they give a reason why they still choose to implement some filtering?

Escort has always said that Highway mode is completely unfiltered, therefore just leaving it on Highway should give max sensitivity. In the case of the 9500i, no one has been able to come up with a firm answer as to how many locations can be stored/locked out. The closer you get to maxing out your available storage space, the slower the detector runs as a unit. Just a thought before you go marking every supermarket door opener in the continental US. However, it is likely to take a long time to even get close to the storage limit.

As for my X50 rev 6.1, imagine my surprise when the speed sign locks on to my car BEFORE the detector alerted  It promptly went on Ebay after I confirmed the issue. My rev 5 never misses a lick other than the aforementioned monthly SELF CAL. I will let the other forum users post their long term findings on the 9500i before I jump on the bandwagon. Uniden tried the GPS thing a while back with less than stellar results.
