    Default 9500i VS RX-65 (K Band Test)

Ok, had a chance today to Challenge my new 9500I against my wife's RX-65 and One K band Speed Sign.

Test Set up- One K band speed sign set up on a very long and straight road.

I drove down the road out of range of the speed sign and started testing.

Initial K band Report- Winner................. 9500I (almost by .2 miles).

I ran several tests, The 9500I always was well ahead of the RX-65. Also please note, when this test was done, Each detector was tested individually, not both on at the same time.

At one point, I stopped the car on the side of the road, the 9500I was alerting K band with 2 bars. When I turned on the RX-65, it reported nothing, zip, zero. I even gave it the benefit of being higher on the windshield, nothing......no alert.

Next test- The 9500I and windshield placement. I found that if I mount the 9500I, mid windshield(I have mine more towards the steering wheel, using the speed for my heads up display), the performance is almost identical to placing it high on the top of the windshield. I found no big performance increase mounting high. I did notice a slight decrease in intitial response with it very low on the windshield(almost on the dash).. however even at this level it still reported sooner than the RX-65.

Overall, I am shocked by the performance of this detector and I highly recommend any V1 owners to give it a try.

My V1 3.825 beat the 9500i in K band together at the same time or individual runs.

I don't think the RX65 is known for it's K band abilities. The V1 on the other hand is most impressive at detecting K.

Stg3SRT4 - good job for know that you should not run both detectors at once, but you made another mistake... you should not try to turn on the detector when in the presence of a radar signal, it is a known fact that radar detectors try to zero themselves out and might block signals that are present right when they're turned on.

Thanks for sharing your results though.

So if I turn on a detector at a strip mall, and have perhaps 6 or so frequencies in the K band. My detector might attenuate a police signal that is close to one of those 6 frequencies until the next power up sequence?

The RX65 and STi are better known for detecting Ka band. They both can probably beat the 9500i in that category.

The V1 can probably beat everything in range on all bands (sometimes not Ka, depends on unit-unit variance really)

    V1 vs. 9500i
    =
TONS of alerts vs. virtually none

Do you think that .1 extra mile is worth the extra noise? Your choice.
