Default 9500i + No Satellite Radio + Cust. Service = Hooray!

Called Escort about my problem of not receiving satellite radio with any of my XM receivers on the bike. Their customer service person admitted there was a problem with some early units and there is a fix/mod/update created last Friday to correct the "lack of satellite reception" problem.

He sent me a free pre-paid UPS shipping label and tracking number via e-mail to return the unit to them so they can fix it.

    Pretty cool, eh?

    +1 Escort!

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ever since i put the 9500 in my truck the sirius sat radio keeps cutting out. As soon as i power down the 9500 the sirius starts working. The only thing i can think of is to move the sirius sat antenna. I have tried that with minimal luck. Anyone else running into this problem?

man, that's really nice of them to send a prepaid box. I wish V1 would do that I spent over 80 bucks in shipping last year on sending V1's back.

    keep us updated.

that's cool and all, but this brings up one question...

make the USB work already and then they don't have to spend money sending prepaid shipping boxes!

You can't install shielding via USB, it's a piece of hardware.

That's what I've been wondering too.

The only thing I can think of - software wise - is that maybe they change the frequency of how the program runs (probably the GPS side since the 8500's doesn't seem to do this) to eliminate the electrical interference with the satellite radio's signal frequency.

Just my WAG, but I dunno. Least they fessed up, unlike my vehicle dealer who says "What problem?" :x

Software or hardware? Whatever it is, hopefully their fix will do the job.

I have to commend them on their CS support though (okay, they do take a long time to answer the phone). CS seems to be a lost art around my house lately.

Oh, it's just a free UPS label. A box would be hard to e-mail quickly.

Cool... I'm glad they are being up-front about it and have already fixed the problem. One bug down... 8)

contacted escort today. Finally after 3 calls got a hold of someone who knew of issue. He is sending me via email a ship label for ups to ship it back. Stated turn around time isa week. He stated it is a software upgrade that was just finialized friday and the new units dont even have it in them. He stated it is not in the assembly line yet. Hopefully i will get the unit back soon and the problem is fixed.
