Default Made an x50 mount (Vid)

    Hi All.

Like the site. Anyway made an x50 mount since I couldn't sleep at night knowing 2 suction cups were holding a ~$230 detector. Anyways I made a mount with items you could buy at any home depot. Anyways i'm not saying this is the best mount in the world, I seen better but it does work well.

Any other ideas or any info on anyone making their 0wn mounts are welcomed. Thx

Seems like a lot of extra weight on the RVM.

Ya it seams like a lot of ectra weight but its not. I have more designs in my head brewing up but for right now it works and doesnt affect the functionality of the rearview mirror. I wanted something that made an effort concealing it but did not want to make a permanent alteration to the vehicle.

I did see a site that had rearview mounts for radar detectors (350z and other cars) but did not like the fact that is drew so much attention to itself. I would love to see pics of what people are doing out there to mount their detector. I seen some that are intergrated into a mirror (amazing) I'm sure theres good ideas out there. L8r

Nice. I'm exactly the same way. I'm always looking at making my own stuff like that. Right now I'm making a custom camera mount for the car. I seem to spend hours thinking of what I can use to make things like that. LOL

    Nice job.

Ya the main thing was I had to make something without using a welder. Its very hard not to think of a welder when your trying to connect metal to other metals. About the camera mount, I am thinking of that also but it has to be detachable, was thinking of making some sort of custom bracket that mounts underneath the driver/passenger seat. One thing I think of when designing anything is I want to keep it as factory looking as possible. One camcorder/camera that caught my attention is DV700TZ. If anyone knows of any other camcorder's that have good specs, post away.

Maxima Lover, I like your vids in the other forum. Keep it up!!

Now time to go and play the Wii.

I honestly think it's a little much. I have never had a problem with any radar detector mounting especially with it being hard wired. If it does happen to fall the cord would catch it. I live in Texas and the temp varies from 110 in th summer to 20's in the winter and I have never had a problem.
To each his own but in this case less is more.......In my opinion.

Well its my first mounting bracket I ever made and when you have to start worrying about having your cord catching it, oh I don't know, you may have a problem. I live in Texas also and it fell once already (cord caught it) and its not even hot out yet. To each his own but then again every mount is different and I love seeing the reviews of the escort mounting and how bad it sucks (no pun intended).

Thanks but no Thanks. It's not like people are making these things up, it happens. Stick with what works, but this was not working for me. L8r
