    Default First real test.

    after two weeks of no action i finally encountered a stationary LEO running K band sitting on the side of I85 South of atlanta and got to compare my new 9500 to my V1. situation - leo sitting in emergency lane "protecting" the workers making the repairs to the interstate. his radar was positioned in his rear window facing oncoming traffic. the first run the V1 picked up the K band signal at 1.45 miles in A mode mounted high with default settings. i passed the officer, exited and went back for another run. i swapped the V1 for the 9500 and put it in Highway mode and approached the leo in the same lane and the same speed and got 1.31 miles of detection. i had previously complained about the ramping up on the unit but it performed flawlessly on this occasion.1-2-3-4-5-6 etc.
    its a good thing because it was just about to be sent back. i now have a bit more confidence than before. i was gonna try to make multiple runs with the 9500 in different modes and speeds but the leo swapped for another after one run and he didnt have his radar on.

    65 in a 60 zone. slow lane w/cruise control on. light traffic with no cars within 10-12 lengths.

    So that is a difference of .14 miles or 740 feet. Which at 65MPH = roughly 8 seconds of difference in warning time.

    If your experiment holds true... then you would have a difference of 8 seconds of warning time

    So with the V1, you will be warned 81 seconds before you get to the target
    With the 9500 you will be warned 73 seconds before you get to the target.

    So both seem go give adequate range, but in instant on situations 8 seconds of difference at 65mph can mean the difference between a ticket and no ticket.

    So basically they alerted at the same time?

    Distance = .14 miles
    Speed = 65mph or .018 miles per second
    .018mps x .14 miles = .00252 seconds

    Seems they are both giving adequate warning with a constant signal. Instant on is always a risk, regardles of the detector.

    you should have divided here...

    .14 miles / .018mps = ~7.778 seconds

    From my calculations: lordhamster is correct.

    1.45 miles = 7656 feet
    1.31 miles = 6917 feet
    difference = 740 feet

    rate of travel:
    65/60 = 1.0833 m/min
    1.0833/60 = .018 m/sec

    .018 x 5280 = 95 ft/sec

    740 (difference) / 95 = 7.78 sec
