    Default Escort 8500 X 50 Warranty

I have two older Escort's and was trading up to the X50 when I noticed the
following statement of limitation on their warranty sheet.

LIMITATION OF WARRANTY: EXCEPT AS EXPRESSLY PROVIDED HEREIN, YOU ARE ACQUIRING THE PRODUCT "AS IS" AND "WHERE IS", WITHOUT REPRESENTATION OR WARRANTY. ESCORT SPECIFICALLY DISCLAIMS ANY REPRESENTATION OR WARRANTY INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO THOSE CONCERNING THE MERCHANTABILITY AND SUITABILITY OF THE PRODUCT FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. ESCORT SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR CONSEQUENTIAL, SPECIAL OR INCIDENTAL DAMAGES INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF THE USE, MISUSE OR MOUNTING OF THE PRODUCT.

"As Is" & "Where Is" implies that I may be purchasing a used or refurbished unit.

None of the sales or customer service staff will or can explain what it means. This statement is not included in the Bel or Valentine
    warranty.

Could someone clarify this for me??

Looks to me that it means that anything that goes wrong with the unit that isn't mentioned in the warranty is too bad. And that anything that happens as a result of using (or misusing) the unit is not their problem either, whether it be that it doesn't go off when you get hit with radar, it falls from the mount and breaks, or you're going too fast and hit a tree.

But that's just a quick try at decyphering legalise during my lunch break

When I read the original warranty, I went ahead and purchased the extended warranty to be on the safe side. (A few months back)

If you plan on keeping it for a bit, I don't think it would hurt. And it's pretty cheap too.
