Default Scratched Lens? Does it matter?

I just noticed I had a weird scratch on the front lens of my radar eye.

    Does it matter?

(the scratch is right above the circular flash - it's a line)

There is no problem with it for the radar waves.

For the laser , some would be concern that very badly scratched lens could impede the laser signal ....in my opinion , infrared will reach the sensor easily .

For the lens , dont try to clean it with ''hot stuff'' like acetone .... it will get worse....

If I clean it, it's just me rubbing it with a cloth.

    Thank you!

I actually made the mistake of cleaning mine with acetone (nail polish remover). I thought it was alcohol because they both come in the small wipe packs that look exactly the same. It just left a residue that I wiped off with my fingers.

Me , I had a big scratch on my v-1 lens ... that is why I gave my experience.

The best way to dont make mistakes is to do nothing...and learn nothing.

HCL = The chemical compound hydrochloric acid is the aqueous (water-based) solution of hydrogen chloride gas (HCl). It is a strong acid.

    Is it a joke

    A friendly word of warning....

Whatever y'all do, just don't use anything that's "laboratory grade." ops:

I've been a lab-rat since I was an undergrad in college, and once, as a histology tech, I decided to utilize some acetone from the lab to assist in my removal of plastic modeling putty from a high-grade plastic replica.

To my horror, not only did the acetone instantly dissolve the modeling putty, but it also literally "ate through" the body of the replica! Seriously, it was like the Alien's blood from the movies!

Just to let you know, that purple shielding is worthless. It's probably some cheap polycarbonate piece of plastic that PREVENTS radiowaves from getting in as easily.

It might be BETTER to remove it. I'm not good of an engineer, but I know plastics somewhat.

What do you guys think? It being scratched will not prevent anything.
