Default Yeah.. So my 9500i went back today.

I tried to like it. I really thought the GPS thing was schweet. I don't have any scientific tests to base my choice on. I've owned my 8500 x50 going on just about 3 years. I have no idea what version of the firmware it's running.

All in all i think my X50 was a bit better at picking up K and Ka signals. Just the little things like how much closer i would be to an oncoming cop car and the Ka going off as compared to my 8500 X50.

I might give it another chance in 6 months when the bugs have been worked out and there's gps software for it. If they let you upgrade the firmware yourself through the USB port i'll be sold.

I'm on about the same timeline - yours is probably a Rev5, like mine.

Now, if I can only remember how to elicit that information from the detector.....I don't want you to "reset" your detector un-necessarily.

^ No way! Where are you? I'm in Sussex (Warrensville & Chagrin).

Watch out for laser, bruddah. There's a fellow member here who was nabbed by SHPD running laser. I still don't know where (he wasn't forthcoming on the location of the encounter), but by the way it was described, I suspect that it was somewhere on Shaker Blvd. It was reported to be an LTI gun.

Speaking of our local area, I know precisely why you sought out the 9500i. I, too, love my x50 Rev5 for how quiet it is on City Mode, with the X-band filtering turned to "lo X," but there's simply no getting around the K-band falses, which are very prevalent in our area -including the various surrounding townships - and unfortunately runs directly into the enforcement practices/hardware of those very townships, including our own.

I honestly looked HARD at the 9500i, due to the promises that the GPS-enabled TrueLock held.....

I dreamed of a completely quiet daily commute.

BTW - here's how to check your version number:

Note that it will clear all of your user-enabled settings, so be sure to re-program it per your preferences after you've performed the version check!

    ^ Holy NO WAY!!!!!

We're like neighbors, and yet, I really don't think we've ever met each other! I'm a big fan of Evos ( I've been a DSMer since high-school, got my first Eclipse back in '92 - and heck, even my Legacy's actually been on David Buschur's dyno twice. ), so I know that I'd have "spotted" you, had I seen you out there.

I'm a greyish/purplish ( light-depending, and also, depending on how often I get to wash her ops: ) - blue (my wife calls it "old man periwinkle") '05 Legacy GT sedan with factory rear wing, moderately dropped. Two rather embarrassingly huge exhaust canisters on the rear end.

You'll probably also know it's me because I typically drive precisely at the PSL or just slightly under, when in-city. ops:

I'll definitely honk/flash/wave at ya if I spot ya.
