    Default Escort X50 V5.0 versus V6.1 Video

This is not too good of a video because the radar detectors are placed next to each other. I know that putting 2 detectors next to each other creates interference, but I had to test it because I am deciding whether or not to return my v6.1 to the store.

NOTE: THE TOP ONE IS VERSION 6.1

This was tested using a K-band baseball speed gun. It has 1/4mi shot. I walked away from the car about 100 feet at a steady pace and kept shooting the car and releasing.

I couldn't walk that far back because I was reaching a Hill. When I have more time, I'll try some new experiments using both detectors... maybe we can then decide which is better. I noticed that v6.1 kept ringing Ka band... maybe because it was next to v5? In addition, v5 also had a loss in K band recognition while v6.1 stayed strong. I will test this more on my drive around the town and if I hit a trooper.

I'm pretty sure since the proximity of the detectors where so close that the test would be flawed. Excellent idea though. Escort keeps saying that there's no difference between Revs but I would beg to differ. Pretty much they stated it's different hardware which is true but why did they change the hardware? For performance?

I'd say your testing methodology is flawed.

What are the difference between V5 and V6.1 supposed to be :?:

Well one thing that Escort Support told me was that because of the increased use of "non LEO" K band devices they increased the filtering on V6.1.

Oh, the point of testing was to see how quickly they would react to the K band, and if one would lose signal before the other as I walked farther away.

What type of control should I use? I'm interested in trying to create actual testing results...

Let me know and I'll try to make it less flawed

Maybe use a timer so you can use test each separately and mark where you shoot from? I don't know how well it would work but its an idea.

IMO rev 5.0 and 6.1 are the same. Any difference experimentally found between the two is probably only unit to unit variance. For example, if you took two X50 Rev 5.0, they would still perform slightly differently. Just look at the guys of lidar results, they have the same detetors and revisions performing totally different sometimes.

I don't have any knowledge of the actual hardware and software difference between 5.0 and 6.1, but I wouldn't be surprised if the only difference was that the 6.1 has different parts that are equivalent but cheaper (possibly a different manufacturer of certain components, or an updated component from a manufacturer).

I think everyone gets different answers when they call. They Stressed very throughly to me that there were no performance differences in the Rev #'s.
They said that it was a way of tracking new hardware.

    ????? ????

    Got me on this one.
