    Default What about the 9500i?

I've been using a red 8500 x50 for 2 years now, and both of my room mates use the same detector. We all love them, when our friend showed us the new 9500i we went nuts! This appears to be the coolest detector on the market, everyone hates false alarms! So after drooling over it for about a week my girlfriend offered to get it for my for my b-day. This is comming up very soon, and after reading some posts on here I am worried that the 9500i won't perform as well as my 8500 x50. I don't know if this is one of those situations where the only time people post about the product is when they have a problem with it, or if everyone is having problems. Generally people only post to complain, never to praise... I am hoping this is one of thos situations because I have been looking forward to this detector for a while.

    Default welcome

Welcome to the board. Sorry to say but not too many on here will suggest the 9500i. If you are enjoying your X50, don't get rid of it. That is a great unit IMHO. If you want an extra rd that's a BelEscort product, I would suggest either a Bel 995, Bel STi, or maybe even a Bel RX65.

The 9500i is a good all around performer and beats my X50 in Ka band. The ramp up is not as good as my X50. There are some weaknesses too specially when locking out a signal. However, using the 9500i in A mode cuts a lot of false alerts not requiring to lockout a false signal. During my 2 week test, the 9500i fits my needs. You can still use your lockout feature and enjoy by locking out signals where speeding past the PSL is required. Example. You lockout a signal that's in an intersection with busy traffic. If LEO is there, most likely he'll be looking for red light vilators. Most likely, LEO won't use traffic radar in intersections. You have to have common sense and caution when using the lockout feature. Most radar traps are usually in open areas. If your local/state LEO does not use k band, the 9500i is an excellent detector equal or better performance to the top detectors.

Check my video coverage of he test i did with the V1 and 9500i. It does well with Ka 35.5, 34.7 and gets top honors with forward facing radar. Contrary to what others have said about the 9500i, i went ahead and ordered one for myself which will replace my X50. Scott who used it experienced good laser capability.

I'm not sure I would call it great. Mine did pick up scatter but when I got hit directly with the stalker LZ1 it did not alert only my LPP.

I would say go ahead and try it out. Escort will let you try it for 30 days so you have noting to lose. I've been kinda debating the same question but I think I may try a V1 cause it's just a completely different animal.

Ok, so I'm going for the 30 day test drive. My 9500i should show up next week and I will do a head to head comparisson with my 8500 x50. I am going to make videos and a blog to let everyone know how it stacks up. To me it appears that alot of people don't quite understand the 9500i GPS functions because I've read complaints about truelock and marklocation not working, but I have seen videos of it actually working (radar roy's videos). So I will make my own videos, conduct my own tests, and post the results. I will let everyone know what the conclusion is in a few weeks.

Nexeo, I've had the 9500i for over a month now and I have had no problems with it. The truelock works perfectly for me (my experience is noted in another forum topic). I too have a x50 also and i have noticed no decreased range. Of course everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I think you have nothing to lose by trying it out. Dont let others convince you otherwise.
