    THAT'S INTERESTING HERE IN AUSTRALIA OUR SPEED CAMERAS USE KA BAND AND WITH THE RX65 THE BEST I'VE HAD SO FAR IS ABOUT 150 METRES???????? I HAVE X2 UNITS AND SO FAR BOTH MOUNTED JUST ABOVE MY DASH, I DON'T HAVE A TINTED WINDOW AND THEY HAVE GIVEN THE SAME WARNING. I AM NOT SURE WHAT VERSION OF SOFTWARE THEY ARE, BUT THEY ARE ONLY 3 MONTHS OLD, DOES ANY ONE KNOW WHAT VERSION OF SOFTWARE THEY ARE UP TO YET AND HOW TO TELL WHAT VERSION YOUR UNIT IS? OR ANY OTHER IDEAS WHY THE RANGE IS SO SHORT, MY OLD 990 GAVE ME UP TO 500 METRES ON A CAMERA! :?:

    on a camera you will always onlt get the range you are getting as the camera is pointing away from you.

    As for checking the firmware do this;

    Hold down the bright/dim button and the city/highway button during power on. Flashes by pretty quick, and be warned, it will reset all settings back to default. Im pretty sure 3.6 is the current.

    p.s, no need to shout (capslock)

    They are both great detectors you really can't go wrong with one or the other.

    How ever one thing I like about the RX65 Vs the X50 is the tones on the 65 seem to be louder

    Sethy is right. You get bar graph strength signal on expert mode with X50 and numbers with RX65 in threat mode. Displays are bigger with the RX65 than X50.

    It's not true. Just tried both today. The RX65 in threat mode will show X1K3Ka4(not the right order but you'll know what i mean) and the highest signal strength number blinks. If you encounter only one signal, the number still blinks and goes from 1-9 depending on the signal strength. The X50 will show XlKllKalll. Encountered 4 troopers today and both performed extremely well with good warning in advance. Both the RX 65 and X50 can show multiple bogeys at once in threat mode-RX65 and expert mode-X50. I like the RX65 better with the display. They are bigger and uses numbers with signal strength. The display in the X50 is smaller and uses a bar graph 1-4 for signal strength in this mode. I will be having my V1 tuesday and test them all personally for 2 weeks. I should be able to really test them in real world. I drive 8-9 hours a day to see patients in home setting. I should be able to make my conclusion by that time.

    They are both great detectors. Sure they both have there high and low points but in the end I really feel that you can't go wrong with a rx65 or X50

    1. X50 can only show 2 K band and 2 Ka band (plus 4 X) so you would never see Ka|||

    2. According to the RX65 manual, "RX65’s Threat Display simultaneously tracks multiple radar signals and their relative signal strength." The numbers you reference are not the number of threats, but the number corresponding to the strength of the signal. The RX50 will display the number of threats (2 K, 2 Ka, 4 X). The picture in the manual shows:

    Ka9 K2 X1
    This doesn't mean there are 9 Ka bands, 2 K bands and 1 X band. It means the Ka band is a strength of 9, K is strength 2, X is strength 1.
