Ahhhh can't decide, X50 vs. RX65

so, I just graduated and for my present I'm going to upgrade from an RX55 to an X50 or an RX65. The X50 is cheaper and I kind of like the display better, but I am used to the tones of BEL. Any suggestions to help my decision?

If you think you're going to use the multi-threat display, go with the X50, it's much better than that of the RX.

argh, I'm kind of leaning towards the RX65 because of the voice alerts and also because I'm already familiar with BEL's. To anyone who's ordered from Roy, how long does it usually take to ship? I hate having to wait for my new toys to arrive

You can have your detector the next day if you want to pay for the shipping. As far as which one to get, I've owned both and they are essentially the same. The good thing about the RX65 is that it can alert to KU band if and when it starts being used in the U.S...

I haven't ordered yet but on the Rx 65 he offers free overnight shipping I believe. I myself lean toward the Rx 65 because of the Ku ablity but Escort X50 is a great detector as well from hearing what everyone here has to say about it all depends on what you want cannot go wrong no matter what you choose

Roy has a deal going on where you can get free overnight shipping on the RX65, so that's a plus. The RX has Ku band, and the voice, but the voice is nothing great, it's pretty quiet. I finally just ended up shutting it off on mine. After a while with the detector, you've id'ed the band before the voice even comes on just by the tone.

From what Outrun's videos were showing, it seems like the laser detection is better with the X50 than with the RX65. If laser is a big concern, that may be something to keep in mind.

I've got an RX65 and it's served me very well, but in the event that it dies, i'd probably get an X50. I like the rotary volume control, and the upward tilt of the RX65 display is annoying if you like to mount high, so for me the X50 might be a better choice. I'd download the manuals for each before buying anything and see if there is any little things like that which may make a difference to you.


Either way you'll be getting a fine detector.

thanks for the replies....yeah laser really isnt an issue here because they only use it on the highway really, and I don't do much highway driving. I've only encountered laser twice, and I know most of the spots. I think I'll end up ordering an RX65 from Roy.

Somethign else to keep in mind is the length of your RD. There is minimal "bounciness," but it is observable. The longer your unit, the more end bounce on the display. If that type of thing matters to you... That's what my buying decision came down to between the two.
