Default Called Escort about the 9500i lockout again!

I called escort today about my 9500i locking out another leo running K band.(24.165). The locked out signal was 24.161. So of course the detector still thought it was the false door witch the signal will sway a bit. I had escort on the phone as I was following this leo with consent k band. Every time We went into a lockout zone 1/2 mile I believe It would lock out the cop.The so called tech asked me If am going to follow the cop around all day!!! He really had no idea what I was talking about! I really wish escort will stop lying about this problem and get it fixed. I call them about once a week. Has anyone got them to tell the truth about the problems. Maybe software can help this ?Maybe not.
    Thanks Matt

I'm having a hard time understanding what you're trying to say, maybe the Escort Service rep did as well. It's a long stretch to assume that this company is lying to its customers. There is no doubt that the 9500i cannot separate signals as close in frequency as those you have listed. Expert meter mode would show this. Did you lockout the door opener at some previous time or did you lockout the door opener at the same time as the the LEO was around?

At this frequencies, you will have a lockout even when the lock out frequency is even 24.150. The problem is that police radar gun frequency also changes as seen by the 9500i. Police radar gun frequency will show 24.150 but sometimes drifts to 24.161, 24.165 and even 24.172. So you get a lockout. If you lock out the false source and a real source is turned on around at the same time even when the real source is moving away from the original lockout zone, you are continuing to lock out all the signal that it picks while you drive around following the cop and that is not the way to do it.

If the lock out zone is traffic radar useless, i won't worry about it. If it is, you have to unlock the false source. If you lockout the real and false source at the same, you will not be able to unlock the true source if is not in the lock out zone. So everytime you come across LEO in that lockout zone, his signal is lock out and you have to lunock LEO's signal while you are in the area. Do remember that lockout frequency can only be unlocked when turned on while you are in the lockout zone. If the false/true source is turned off in the lock out zone, you cannot unlock it.

Frequencies 25.150 and up will be most likely true radar frequency and will have to avoid locking out that frequency if traffic radar is useful. If the area is not usefull to traffic radar (common sense used), i wouln't worry about LEO's signal being lock out. Try locking out frequencies 24.125 and below and see how your 9500i will work.

Azonehits, Thank you for the help. I locked out this zone 2 weeks before I followed the cop. There is only 2 leos here that run K band so it's hard for me to test. I do believe there is about 30 hz swing with the false signal. So if you are right about locking out below 24.125 witch I think you are, this might just work.
I love Escort but if you ask them about the range of the lockout feature they can not answer me. I have email them 3 times and called many times. Never to get an answer :?

My guess is probably 1/2 square miles or less. I am not sure either.

too many issues to be worked out with this unit, it appears.

it takes just ONCE to not get an alert from a LEO because the Lockout feature screwed up.

    not for me.

I was one of the first ones Punked into the 9500 Hype. I had several concerns about this unit and I questioned the staff several times. It seams they do not have any idea about how it works. At one conversation they told me that it blocked the whole band then the next time after I talked to the service manager they said it just blocked the specific frequency. Finally I found out the hard way. I received a K signal and as I got closer to the LEO the signal got stronger then it went off. Then I noticed the spinning satellite. I entered a lock out zone!!!!. Real nice Escort.... Since the device seams weak on K signals more than any other band. I got about a 20 second warning that was extremely weak and lucky for me it was a area that I was going slow. So I called Escort explained what happened and mentioned I called about this when I first got the detector several times, and also that I had seen the video proving this thing has problems. Surprisingly they said I could send it back after having it 3 months. WOW, Im happy they are letting me do this. So I ordered a Valentine1. Its interesting how this thing works. Its supper sensitive, maybe a little to much in the city but the Hwy seams great.
