Is that a fan connected with the red and black wires?

Notice the laser pickup? Quite different than the 8500(x50). The light pipe from the top cover down to it is different as well, more opaque.
The little screen covering over it is sort of weird too. I believe you'll find the laser range improved over the x50 as well (I used Roy's Toy).
The speaker replaced that piezo buzzer in 8500(x50) for voice I assume, imo.
That's cheap RF shielding if you ask meOriginally Posted by statusquo
BTW are these the FCC photos?
I think those are Jimbonzz's photos. He has LOST his mind

Is the Antenna the same that is used in the Bel RX65 and Escort 8500 X50?

Thanks (again) for posting these. I am addicted to internal pics of anything.
Note the large cap to help the sirfIII remember its last position, to aid in quick startup.
I would think that shielding screen would block some IR light from hitting the laser sensor...couldn't they have used something finer or metal smoked plastic? Or perhaps shield inside/below the sensor so it didn't have anything in its way? Seems lazy to me.
The mesh screen is to help prevent Laser falsing due to RF energy fields and is not associated at all with IR filtering.Originally Posted by jwardell
