I purchased a 9500i and have had it almost a month. In that time I have had 2 instant on hits and 2 constant on alerts.
I have a serious problem with the ramp up. It starts with a few low signal beeps and then all of a sudden full alert. The problem with this is I am lulled into thinking I have a far away weak signal only to find out it really is not as far or weak as I was led to believe. I called tech support and was told this was normal and designed to have this very rapid ramp up. (That makes no sense to me and certainly is not that way on the V1)
I also tried to get information from tech support on the GPS itself and if it was WAAS enabled for better resolution accuracy. (They did not know the answer to that.)
Additionally I wanted to know about the range of a locked out signal. (Did not know that either.)
I told them of the many complaints on certain websites and was told they just donít understand the 9500i and were mistaking what it was telling them. I must be in that group also.
Since the ramp up is unacceptable to me as well as the lack of knowledge tech support has of their own product I am going back to the V1. Sure I will have more alerts but I will fix much of that in the advanced logic mode. The arrows will give me a much higher situational awareness than just beeps and I will be totally confidant that any threat will be displayed to me as opposed to wondering if one of my locked out sources on the 9500i is actually blocking a real threat with in the general frequency band.
I am disappointed because I do believe Escort is on to something here, unfortunately however it needs a couple software revisions before it is on par with what Mike Valentine has to offer.
