Default New version of X50

If anyone gets a brand new 8500 X50, please be sure to check if you get the new model with an FCC ID of QKLX5M4. You can find this on the sticker on the bottom of your X50.

If you get this "new" X50, you will have different internal hardware and possibly newer software/firmware.

Please share if you get one of these newer X50 models :!:

That's the FCC ID everyone has right now. No one has seen the new one yet, though the X50 should still look the same but have updated internals.

It may or may not have updated firmware. If it does have it, and you wanted it - you could send it in to Escort if it still under warranty and get the update. If it is out of warranty, you pay $85 I believe.

Default welll.....

Whattaya know...ym X50 cold no-start issue... I found ou I have the Best Buy 2 year replacement insurance on it! Yeee...haaaaaaaa...
They give me 299.99 upon reciept of the detector by mail OR I goto Best Buy and if they have the replacement in stock, I get it. If newer rev or more $$... I pay up for newer from the 299.99.

Why is the BLUE 40 bucks more???? Do they kill smurfs for the blue color or what?

2 year replacement protection cost an additional 39.99.

WELL WORTH IT. See now? ;-)

Do any of the onine retailers offer such a plan?
Mind you - I am almost 1 3/4 years in... no depreciation.

Skip to the third paragraph of "Current Developments" for the short answer...

Default New FC ID and a few questions

OK, when you google the QKLX5M4 FCC ID, you get this link http://www.guysoflidar.com/newescort.html and the thread we are reading right now......pretty slim info. This states it will probrably be the ID for a whole new detector, not a 'new' X50 per se.

I have a question though....If I go out and find that my software version is anything other than 'Rev. 5' , what are the notable differences? Is it a big deal? Is it worth upgrading?

I purchased this X50 because it was advertised as 'upgradable' , but I have yet to find any info on upgrading my X50 on the Escort website or elsewhere.........

I love my X50 but my only disappointment was that it is not equipped with the SWS (Safety Warning System) and believe if upgrades do exist this should be included in one of them.

Other than that..........HELLO EVERYONE....Seems Like You Have A Great Forum Here!!!

If your X50 is recently bought it will probably be Rev. 5 (check it), if not Belscort can get it updated to Rev. 5.

Don't worry about SWS.

Welcome to the forum.

......my last reply in sticky thread...

I just checked and it is 'Rev 5'

I did buy mine on Ebay, but only because it was new, unopened packaging and still in the plastic wrap with all accessories.....I think I paid about $270 shipped about 1.5 years ago.

No way in hell lI'd buy one that wasn't in new packaging.

the thing is is that even though it was 'new' it could still be a refurbished and repackaged unit. it may look brand new though.

Default x50

I bought my 8500 x50 in may 2004 (best buy)

It is in fact a rev 5.

The book mentions upgrade to ZR3...
What is the "ZR3 ready" meaning?
