Gently move the chord near where it connects to the X50. Maybe the connector is becoming loose.
Also try doing it with the coiled cord connected. If it doesn't do it, then it might be a problem with the hardwire.
There was a thread similar to this recently. Lemme dig it up.

Most likely your connection. Check your wiring.
X2 to a cord check!
x2, and an unstable connection (which it most certainly is) must be playing havoc on your poor x50.
Also to make 100% sure its your connection... get out your smartcord that plugs into the cig. outlet, and try hitting bumps like that.
Yeah, unstable connection. Check your connections in your fuse box and make sure the bumps your hitting isn't knocking your connection lose.
I had this problem when I 1st hardwired my detector and that was the issue.
i checked where it is in the fuse box and the ground, and they seem to be fine. i never thought about the connection up top though. ill have to try that
thanks guys
checked everything agin today and its all good. im gonna try and replace the tap in i used in the fuse box, maybe its just bad now. if that doesnt work im gonna order a v1 and send the x50 for repairs while its still under warrenty
