Default 9500i - Marking Camera question...

So today while driving around Maryland I found a few red light cameras and I marked them. All I have to say is 5000FT is way to far to be alerting me, I prefer the 2500FT much better.

However, I have a question. While counting down the 5000FT or 2500FT will it alert you if a radar source is present? So far I've not had any success, anyone else got any idea how this works?

Yes While its counting down a radar alert will override the marked location.
5000 feet 1 mile is great if it's a laser trap. I have a few laser traps marked and sometimes around 3000 feet I will get a laser hit. I agree 5000 feet is a long way for a red light camera. Also when you mark a red light on a busy street maybe a 4 way even if your not coming down the street facing the red light it will alert to you approaching your marked location. ( going the same direction only 1/2 mile away).

If you pass through the area at 65 mph, it will give you 5K advance warning. If you drove through the mark location at lower speeds 55 mph and below, it will give 2500 ft. of warning and yes it will alert you with any threats present. Remember, the warning distance depends on the speed you are traveling.

yeah, I'd like to have the option to pick 2500 or 5K. another problem I found, is after you pass by the camera it counts backwards from the camera. HOW RETARDED! These are one directional cameras... *sigh* I just unmarked it to much hassle.

    I completely agree.
In suburbia on a 45mph multi-lane with red light cameras it can be so annoying that it becomes completely useless. I think that the counting down after passing the marked location will go away eventually with new software, simply because it is RETARDED.

i agree. i can't use this feature anymore. we have residential areas that are near the freeway and if you are driving around in someone's neighborhood with homes all around you and you happen to be within a mile of the freeway, you get a speedtrap alert? nonsense.

There is little doubt that using a circular radius without regard to direction of motion and exact location when the lockout or in this case a Marked location occured is simply not the best approach. Escort engineering would do well to take into account direction of movement and calculate a max vs min for a more practial oval shaped marked area. If the unit can track direction for a few hundred meters after a mark location request, it would seem logical to use a smaller oval approximation to define the Marked location instead of a circle. I think something similar should apply to lockouts. Just my thoughts.

Mark location definitely works best for speed traps but marking red light cameras in a small city/town the radius is too big. Not to big of a deal all the other unique fetchers more than compensate for the mark location fetcher.
Who knows, true lock use to be a big problem now that people understand how it works and the software was updated there is really no problem at all.

    Off topic:
Its funny the most looked at and replied to posts are the negative ones and the least are positive ones. If you only purchased according to all the posts the V1,STI,9500I would all seem like they were plagued with problems.
