I'm the proud owner of a Passport Classic, dating back from the mid-90's. The unit has held up strong until just about this spring when it started to act funny. The detector starts up as it usually does, cycling through the different bands that it handles in each unique sound during the diagnostic startup. When it reaches the very last mode, and the testing ends, it lets off this very high pitched series of beeps (very different from the moderate, normal series of beeps it would generally sound at the end, which are the same ones it sets off when a cop/alarm system is detected.) The unit then flashes the first red circle indicator repeatedly while on and in use.
I have tried everything....from pressing all the buttons simultaneously, to actually opening the unit up and spraying compressed air on the circuit board. With no luck, and the annoying flashing light continuing....I turn to the radardetector.net folks for help. Any way of fixing this....?
My brother used to own the exact radar detector, but I think it used to actually be called a different model number, instead of 'Passport Classic'. If my memory is correct, it came out around 1995. Any input would be great. Thanks.
