While I know X band is probably the most "false-likely" of the bands, I am really curious of what sets it off sometimes.
There are about... 3 or 4 locations I can think of that I always get them, a few which I have locked out (but remain curious  ).
The first is the on ramp for I-485 (Exit 49 Idlewild). Getting on I-485, I will get an X-band signal with 1-2 bars in strength at the light (or maybe a bit before it) before making the right onto I-485. Coming the other way, I'll get the signal anywhere from a bit after merging onto the off ramp lane or getting up to make the left onto Idlewild. I don't have a frequency for this one, I'll check it next time. There are no real stores or any commercial things around for a good few hundred feet. A few times I have gotten full X-band signal making the left onto Idlewild, which makes me believe there is sometimes an LEO around there.
The second is going under various over passes on I-485 itself. I get various 1-2 bar warnings as I pass (or get close to) under them. Only on some of them and I haven't been remembering if they are always the same ones or not (I probably should do that). Sometimes I get two signals of equal strength in the X-band (even up to three). There are a few times I have gotten from low X band signal to full X band signal while going under the overpasses, which leads me to believe there are LEOs that "camp" them so to speak. No frequency for this one either.
The last I can think of right now is a railroad crossing on the way to and from work. IIRC, The frequency is about 10.546. I'm not sure what this is from but it is there everyday, 1-2 bars in strength. I've locked this one out after a whole business week of running into it. 8)
I'm just really curious to what "devices" emit X-band signals in this types of areas.
