I, like some of the others who first got their X50, am concerned with the mounting for the X50. I've had my X50 for a couple of days and I'm concerned with the amount of vibrating and bouncing it gets from just being on the windshield.
I used the search function to read some of the posts by others. I have tried bending the bracket to where the X50 is level and the two notches that stick up from the detector are rested upon the glass and the thing still bounces a lot. Some of it might have to do with the crappy suspension the designers at Toyota had for the 1st generation Avalon's (1995-1999).
The X50 is definitely a lot longer than any of the Bel's...with the 895 I never had a huge bouncing problem for the most part. If I get on any road that isn't smooth the X50 bounces...and bounces.
I think I've seen a 3 suction cup mount that was designed to fit the like the Belscorts, just with 3 suction cups, 2 where they are normally are with the original mount, and one below it in the middle so it makes a triangle with the suction cups. Call me crazy, but I think I've seen something like that. Can anyone verify this?
