Default My 8500 missed a quick trigger (Ka 34.7 Stalker)

I went out tonight on my bike to sit with my LEO friend while he ran traffic with his Sgt. His Sgt. looks over at my 8500, point his Stalker handheld at my 8500 and quick triggered it. My 8500 was silent. He then held down the trigger and it alerted to K for a second and then went into full Ka alert. Then another quick trigger burst.. it was silent. He looked at me and kinda laughed. (ive met the Sgt. before & he knows Im into radar) I thought ive read somehwere that the Escort can miss a quick trigger. After his Sgt left, we went out on a ride.. We stopped at a light and my friend aimed his K band gun at my detector and it went off instantly. I asked him to quick trigger it like his Sgt. did. It alerted instantly on K band. Does my 8500 need to be looked at, or is this normal for the 8500. Im not sure of what revision I have. I think i bought it in mid 2001.

You may need to have it tuned up. Seems like their is something wrong with it since it alerted to K briefly and then Ka from a stalker handheld. The belscort units known to have a lag with response to quick trigger pulls even at point blank range.

Depending how close he was he could have been overloading it

He was about 3 feet from my 8500 when he shot it. He said he watches traffic go by, and if it looks they are going around the limit, he doesnt fire. If he see's one that looks like its going to fast, then he IO's them, put the gun back in the holster on the bike and goes after them. If its normal for this detector to have this much lag, its time for a V1 on the bike. It did alert to K band instantly though. So maybe the issue is just on Ka. Myabe the sweep rate is too slow on Ka?

Mine isnt an X50, just the 8500. Not sure if that makes a difference or not.

The x50's are more sensitive than the orignal non x50's, but as the others said that being so close probably was the reason it did not alert you. Under typical conditions Im sure your radar is ok.

any detector can get confused if the gun is sitting right next to it. I just stopped a guy yesterday for 21 over who had a x50 blue. I have a stalker dual in my car and was sitting stationary for over 10 minutes when he came through
