I recently had to road trip it to south-east Indiana from Michigan. As a result I was on I-75 south all the way through OH. I figured I'd post this here. I must say, all the traveling I've been doing lately has taught me how to be a much more aware driver...it's funny because since I started using my x50 regularly I probably actually do the speed limit or just a little over MORE haha...
Anyways, I will say one thing Ohio LEOs love LIDAR. On the way down I didn't have any actual alerts on K, X, or Ka bands...just a few falses or construction signs. However, I passed 3 LEOs that were running LIDAR on the other side of the freeway...I am pretty sure it was LIDAR because for one, I received no alert whatsoever, and for two they were all parked on the median stationary and pointing guns out the window.
On the way up I passed one LEO running what I assume to be LIDAR on my side of the freeway...I was doing the PSL and not sure if he even bothered but I received no alert.
Anyways, I think since using my x50 regularly and joining this forum I've learned how to actually use my RD more intelligently, and make better decisions. Alot of people that aren't really "into" this sort of thing, but just want something that picks up police seem to think an RD gives them a license to speed and thats not the case at all. For one, you have IO which can leave you helpless...for two, especially on freeways you have LIDAR...which even if you spend hundreds upon hundreds of dollars for a good jammer, VEIL, and whatever else you still have no real guarantee...then you have the airplanes, VASCAR and all that crazy crap.
. Specifically what I've learned is how to use my RD as more of a tool than anything. I've really started taking advantage of rabbits, I've taken notice of certain patterns like trucks in the other lane signaling you with their lights, and people up ahead putting on the brakes...also I've just been a much more aware driver on the freeway especially. Thats my little weekend story
