Default 8500 x50 Problems. Full alerts when cold and others

    Hello all. New member here.

I have searched and searched but have not yet found a solution to my problems.

    Here is my setup:
    8500 x50 Red hardwired into Honda S2000
I have the meter on expert with X turned off and always run highway mode

    Here is my problem:
When the detector is cold and not at operating temp (I assume) it will full alert K, Ka, and X (enabled to check this band also). These alerts stay at full blast for at least 10 minutes. Usually I get so aggravated that I turn the thing off and wont turn it back on again until I am out of work. At which point it starts up and works fine after sitting in the warm air all day.

    Things I have tried

Switching cars - did not work
Using OEM cig cord - did not work
Keeping detector in house overnight - did work but annoying and not solution I want.

Also, sometimes during full alerts a red circle or dot will flash in the upper right hand corner of the display, what is this? I have read on here about Rev's as well, how do I find out which rev I have?

The unit was purchased from Best Buy in May 07.

    Thanks in advance!

    -Mike

Sounds like your detector is jacked. I wouldn't recommend keeping it in the car for 2 main reasons. First, theft. Secondly, electronics don't play nice with very hot and very cold conditions. I hope you got the service plan, other wise I think Escort has a standard warranty? That red dot thing flashing is definitely part of the unit features. And a full alert on every band is definitely bad. Your unit is either defective, broken, or both. I'd get it replaced.

Hey! Welcome to the boards! Yeah Id get it replaced, it DOES sound bad. Curiously enough, what part of Western, MA? I grew up around the Deerfield/Greenfield area.

Have you tried Reseting it? If not give that a try.

Press and Hold all three buttons (Mute,City,Dim) on the detector while
    turning the unit on.

If that doesn't help I would send it back to escort and let
them take a look at it.

I'll try resetting it, but I doubt that will help.

I am from the Pittsfield area.

    Yea, I figured.

I scoured the manual and could find NOTHING about it.

For the time being I would say the RESET has solved the problem. I will let you all know if the problem comes back but this morning it was cold out and the detector didn't go off.

    BTW I have rev 6.1
