I am a long-time Bel owner (and longtime detector owner since 1985) but I recently bought a 9500i about a month ago. Agreed, the ramp-up is unacceptable and off-axis is deplorable. Usually the unit goes from 2 strength to full strength within half a second upon approaching a LEO. I find audio level at full-blast is barely acceptable on the 9500i in my Elise.
Still, the GPS function is outstanding and works very well and rarely do I need to compensate for frequency drift upon marking a location. The speedo listing upon a signal is great too, as you normally eyeball the unit upon its signal anyway, saves time guessing my actual speed on the speedometer of the car, which is 7% off anyway like most motorcycles(thanks, Lotus).
How is off-axis and ramp-up on the STi Driver with the new software flash? Also, Escort does not answer my questions concerning any USB updates for their unit, but certainly with the port, updates are inevitable, no? Should I be patient?
