I've had my 9500i for a few months (21 07). I got it to replace my V1, which alerted so often that it was annoying and I had started ignoring alerts. Overall I like the 9500i. It is a lot quieter and the TrueLock works well for me, getting rid of alerts from door openers, etc. I think the V1 was a little more sensitive, though I'm not sure that ended up being a good thing. I also miss the arrows a little, but not as much as I would have thought.
Anyway, on to the issue. I pass one spot on the interstate that consistently causes a false laser alert. It may be caused by a new electronic billboard that uses lights (kind of like a screen in a stadium) to show the ad. Another possibility is that the weather radar tower close to that spot is just messing with the circuitry.
I can understand having a false alert once in a while.
Here are my gripes:
1) Can't lock out laser false alerts like you can for RF.
2) I tried turning the Laser band completely off. When I power cycle the 9500i, it confirms LSR OFF just as the instructions say. But, it still gives a false laser alert when I pass that spot.
Has anyone else seen anything similar? Any suggestions on what to try?
Will a laser pointer cause the detecter to give a laser alert? If so, I could get one to test whether it is actually disregarding the fact that I turned the laser band off or if something else is in play (like the weather radar)?
Any suggestions appreciated.
