For some reason when i really jump on my car and get over the 100 mph mark, i get false laser alarms. I'm sure you can imagine how nice that is. Has anyone else had this?

Not once with ether of my 9500I's, and I have done about 140mph with them. Even when I floor it doing 80. It may be something specific about your car.Originally Posted by jason333
I've found that Street Pilot III will set off the Laser if the radar detector can see it (9500i)
Well in theory if you got going fast enough and the sun was behind you the wavelengths of visible light would shift towards the red, and you'd get IR radiation that could set off the laser detector. Of course this might be a bit difficult as you'd need to be traveling a fair percentage of the speed of light... :roll:Originally Posted by jason333
I did have a V1 that would often do a laser alert when I used full throttle, it was due to voltage changes and a capacitor in the line helped solve that problem. And as I still have the same power cord on my Escort stuff, I've never had the problem since.
Ill get a video of it this week. SOO annoying. Nothing like full boost, 100+ mph and a laser alarm.
Either alternator whine at high rpms and/or radar detector vibration is causing the false laser alerts. Obviously checking that the radar detector isn't excessively vibrating is really easy to do, but I don't think that this is your problem unless you notice that the false laser alerts are occurring only when your radar detector is facing the sun and the RD is vibrating. To block alternator whine, go to Radio Shack and get their snap-on RF Filter (essentially its just a snap-on ferrite choke) and snap it around the RD's power cord or around the +12V wire to your cigarette lighter socket if you are powering your RD using the cigarette lighter Smart Cord. If this doesn't work, unsnap the choke and wrap the wire to pass through it an additional time. The Radio Shack choke should solve your laser falsing problem.Originally Posted by jason333

Happens not infrequently in vehicles of other makes, too - but definitely seems to be an issue with modern Scoobys....
It's an 03 350z
I have PLENTY of laser falses with my '07 Subaru Impreza Outbk and Whistler XTR-690. Some of them happen at specific places, some just randomly.
I'll try the fix from the link. Thank you, TSi+WRX
I called Escort yesterday and confirmed there may be a bluetooth headset problem that sets off the 9500i. I told the technician when I am on my cell phone using my Bluetooth headset, I get numerous laser falses, sometimes 4 or 5 within just a few hundered feet. He said that bluetooth can cause problems and cause the 9500i to false....annoying but at least now they know.
