    Default ZR3 installation questions

    While laser is not a big deal in TN I do venture down to Atlanta and Chatt. enough to consider a shifter. I'm not dead set on the ZR3, but it's a viable option. My question is where should I install the heads? I've attached a picture of my vehicle and just curious what options you think would be best. Yellow dots would be behind the grille. Red would be well below the headlights, but there would be nothing in front of them. Blue dots were another option, but I don't see any benefit to them being mounted so close to each other.

    I personally would go with red. However, word is that Escort will be coming out with a new shifter soon. I personally can atest to the lack of rear coverage with the ZR3.

    ^ Escort's new jammer will undoubtedly command a premium - they're also somewhat tight about an "authorized shop install" when it comes to warranty claims, which will only add to the cost..... And being that it will still be a LED-based jammer, I honestly don't know what to advise, here.

    In terms of the old-and-outgoing ZR3, if one can be had for a significant discount - and if it matches the OP's enforcement profile - it can be a cost-effective means of protection (front only).

    To the OP ->

    I'd break out the tape-rule, and measure-out via the proper "18-inch radius rule." Make sure that those large reflector-housing headlights are completely covered within the protection radius.

    Visually, by only the picture provided, I cannot tell if mounting at the yellow dots will allow sufficient coverage for the headlights. Similarly, I don't know whether or not - even if you were to space the two front heads even wider apart than the red dots (i.e. each more outboard) if they'll be able to cover the headlights any better, due to the physically low positioning of the lower grill opening.

    Whatever you do, do consider bringing up-front that rear head, so as to offer best-odds center-mass protection. Note that yes, this will sacrifice "directional"/location capability, since your rear head will now also be pointing to the front, but by no means think that the rear head, positioned out rear, will give you any protection there at all. For those who utilize the Bel/Escort jammers as first-line defense, I always advise that they utilize this "three-heads-up-front" "enthusiast's configuration" instead of the traditional mounting.

    Finally, be sure to leave these jammers complete line-of-sight. Don't put them behind the grill - that'll severly limit their capabilities.

    Oh yea, forgot about the rear shifter. Ok, then I would put the "front" heads in the yellow, with the grille cut, then the "rear" shifter between the blue dots. Should provide a decent protection.

    Here's my car !

    :]

    All 3 heads on front.

    This picture is outdated, but I painted my grill all black and bought a black frame for my plate. So the jammer doesnt stick out too much

    Put a LS on and veil it, then it would be very effective against the troopers carrying PL III.
