    Default 9500i help needed

I am thinking about trying out another 9500i. Does anyone know what release date includes the ramp up fix? I had 38/07 and that did not have it.
    thx in advance

The word on the street is 4007, anything blue and everything ordered directly from Belscort.

X2, ordering direct and asking for it is the safest bet. But almost every big retailer should be ok now. 4007 and above is key.

Thanks! I've been wondering this as well. Mine is 3907, but I really haven't been able to test it. I'm driving 8 hours both ways for Christmas, so I'm sure I'll be given some opportunities.

FYI, there were some reported 3807 and above with ramp up fix.

    Default 4307

Mine is a 4307 and after reading about what this "ramp up fix" is supposed to do I'd either say it must have been really bad before this fix or mine doesn't have the ramp up fix installed on it either.

Has anyone heard of any button combination you can push or hold maybe at startup that will display the current software version the 9500i is actually running on so there's a more scientific way of determing if you already have the fix installed or not?

We have a stretch of 2 lane highway here thats about 20 miles long and under construction for becoming 4 lanes with a divider, NHP patrols it back and forth 24/7 because the road has been 70mph speed limit for ever and now its only 50 during the construction. In driving it today each way I got 2 hits of Ka Band from on coming patrol cars. Both just hit me full blast and all of a sudden with no ramp up or warning. That was 4 seperate incidents each time with cars down the road ahead of me that if they were poping people I find it strange that they only poped me each of the 4 times.

Had some falses on X band as well in another area, it started one beep, went dead a while, one beep, then 3 beeps, then full scale blasted, then completely gone. It never gradually climbed up. What was even stranger about this was it was in a long wide open flat stretch of desert where there wasn't another car, building or even power lines for probably 20 miles. No place a speed trap could hide, just wide open flat desert. A couple hours later on my way back through the same area there was no warnings at all, just all of a sudden it went full blasted X band alert as I went into the same area. Then went dead, 1/4 mile past this area I got 1 beep X band, then nothing.

It's strange because there is nothing at all out there other than railroad tracks that run parallel to the road about 1/2 mile off to one side. Has anyone ever heard of the railroad maybe using something with X band radar that could be out there?

Only the manufacturer date 4007 and above. The ramp up before was non existent so if you have any ramp up at all it’s fixed.
It sounds like your encounters with KA are normal for I/O and moving radar. Moving radar has about ½ the distance of stationary radar.
The 9500I does seem to ramp up a bit quicker on KA, but I don’t think that’s a bad thing. It seems to be more active in its analyzing radar on KA, the ramp up increases faster when it encounters a fast radar increase (moving radar) over a normal ramp up for (stationary radar). The 9500I does have GPS, so it is certainly possible that it’s analyzing the incoming radar to see if it increasing in a faster rate (moving radar) than what it would if it was increasing at a slower rate (stationary).
I believe the railroad uses radar at some crossings and maybe for monitoring location of train?

First part I can believe but incorporating GPS car speed to analyze the relative rate would be pretty dang intelligent. It's hard for me to believe Escort built in something that fancy.

We need you to design the next model.

    Default Odd signal

The railroad nearby was all I can think that must be generating the signal for some reason. There are no crossings in this area, nor even any type of devices I can see from the road that stick up out of the ground anywhere near the tracks. Maybe some day when I have more time I'll stop in that area and take a closer look around, curriosity will get the best of me I'm sure.

Last time I owned a radr detector it was an old Fuzzbuster many many years ago, so I do know the more you use it the better your skills become even with first generation technology like that thing had. That sudden ka blast concerns me though, if this is normal operation for it then its not going to equal much more than a ticket notification device. I think I read on Radar Roy's blog site that Nevada does use POP radar heavily, but I was anticipating a little better performance from this 9500i than what I experienced since they do advertise POP detection as an advanced feature of this model. The manual reads as though I should have at least had a single beep warning prior that I should take very seriously as I think was how they worded it. I did turn POP mode on, not sure why they default it off, I'd rather have false alarms from over sensitivity than no warning what so ever.

It's hard for me to believe Escort built in something that fancy.
Not to mention the added time it would take for the device to process this information could certainly make the difference of getting a ticket or not. This is already somewhat of a concern of mine that all the added processor time required to do the bells and whistles on this thing can lead to delays or even hang ups and lower its ability to perform its actual root purpose.

I doubt anyone is going to develop anything with current technology that's going to effectively be able to process this much information and still output the data to the user within a realistic and functional time frame even if we are just talking nano seconds of time. We'll probably have to wait for technology to employ Quantum Physics before we can expect any kind of real world advancements like this. When that happens we probably won't even need alert notifications, the system could instantly detect a threat and automaticly teleport us past the speedtrap without even having to go through it.
