    Default quick question? plz help

hey, i was looking at the 8500 x50 but i need something thats stealth. my question is since it has a radar signal mute, can i just use that to go by un detected , or do i need to get the STI driver? i found an x50 for sale localy, and if i can get it, it would be better then having to drive to the U.S for a STI.

    Hi bodom,

All radar detectors, and I mean ALL radar detectors except for the STi can be detected by the Spectre radar detector detector (RDD) device. At present the STi is the only radar detector which can not be detected by any and all RDD devices. The mute button on any radar detector merely blocks the radar detector from producing alerts to radar, and has nothing to do with preventing the use of a radar detector from being detected.

    Welcome to the forum!

At least you'll make good time driving back with your new detector at work for you.

You won't find it in Buffalo. Circuity City doesn't stock the Sti on its shelves. You have to order it first and then pick it up instore.

Or, you can order from radarbusters.com and they'll ship it to your home. Or, you can order from beltronics and have it shipped to a UPS store in NY.

You might even consider the STi-R, which would be the ultimate in stealth.

They have in the past. Things have changed since Roy sold them though... Detectors are duty free, you pay only PST and GST.
