    Default Dear Escort Letter

I will keep everyone informes at to if and when they respond, as well as what they have to say. I left a message with a manager last Friday and he hasn't returned my call as of yet. Here is their number if you want to call them and voice your concearn:

    Escort technician,
I purchased an Escort 8500 in January of 2001. This particular unit
appealed to me, as it is upgradable for future threats and it was
advertised as never obsolete. Since the time of my purchase, new
    threats
have emerged such as KU and POP technology. I was informed by a
    customer
service representative last year that a POP upgrade would be available
    for
the Passport 8500 in September of 2004. I have recently called your
customer service as a follow up and been informed that the upgrade is
    still
not available. Please send me a detailed approximate time line as to
    when
Escort will offer upgrades to the passport 8500 to be able to detect
    these
new threats, as I am aware that your new detectors (the RX65 and
    Passport
8500X50) have already incorporated these new threats into their
    detection
    arsenal. Thank you very much.

I thought most of the flavor companies in the US were based in jersey.

    edit, found it:
The New Jersey Turnpike runs through the heart of the flavor industry, an industrial corridor dotted with refineries and chemical plants. International Flavors & Fragrences(IFF), the worlds largest flavor company, has a manufacturing facility off Exit 8A in Dayton, New Jersey; Givaudan, the world's second-largest flavor company, has a plant in East Hanover. Haarman & Reimer, the largest German flavor company, has a plant in Teterboro, as does Takasago, Japan's largest flavor company.Flavor Dyanmica as a plant in South Plainfield; Frutarom is in North Bergen; Elan Chemicals is in Newark. Dozensof companies manufacture flavors in New Jersey industrial parks between Teaneck and South Brunswick. Indeed, the area produces almost two-thirds of the flavor additives sold in the United States.

I know that people have had trouble getting their 8500 (non x50) upgraded to POP protection. What do people think will happen when KU comes to the US. Will escort refuse to upgrade the X50's or will they have a change of heart?

I talked to escort and they said that they could not upgrade the 8500 to the X50 with pop because they had to change hardware parts in it but they said if KU band comes to the US then there is a chip they change or upgrade.... thus not having to buy another unit.
