Default Does the 9500i have problems of not

These videos seem to prove that the 9500i has problems with locking out radar. I was thinking about buying a 9500i over a v1 for the true lock feature but now I don't know which one to buy.

X2......V1, or if you would like more indecision think about a STI

I think the 9500 has a lot of potential and it's a great idea packin a lot of options for the money...but it needs sorted out...maybe in a year or two. I think *locking out* radar is one of it's issues alright...POLICE RADAR.

If you really want to understand how the 9500 is supposed to work...you first need to be absorbed....read this detail posted by cjr238...good read

    Default Help me

The thing is I get a discount on the 9500i so I would only pay 300 for it the other option is to get an x50 which would cost me 210 blue or 185 red. The thing is I don't do much highway driving now and it would be nice not to spend so much money so im not sure if I want the V1

Right now I am thinking of getting an 9500i and not using the lockout feature at all of buying a x50 blue.

The only downside to the V1 is the falses and the cost especially because of the discount.

I don't see any reason to go STI

Well, if you enjoy a 1970s design detector that falses constantly in towns, cities, whatever, usually 7 to 9 flases constantly, buy the antiquated V1.

Enjoy the gradual numbing of false signals crying wolf until finally you ignore them altogether, then finally get bagged.

Oh, and the Escort also can read 9 signals at once, and the 9500i and Bel Sti range is better than the V1 but almost never false. Nice try Mike Valentine.

I think the V1 comes with a poison that makes its buyers think it's the shizit. It is not. Read radartest.com or other dozens of tests on tons of sites. Watch the constant falsing on Youtube. Go numb with the nonstop useless chatter and pay $499. Enjoy.

Well....for the discount you can get I would get the 9500...it would shine in town...a V1 CAN BE PRETTY QUIET IF YOU KNOW HOW TO SET ONE UP...but nothing would be quieter than a 9500 around town...just have to be careful with the trueloc and don't get trigger happy.

For $300 I would buy the 9500....no shame...forget the rest of it.

The 9500i is extremely sensitive, has the ability to lock out falses if you desire, but not if you don't want to and it's pretty quiet around town even without the lockouts. It also has spec mode and expert mode, which are extremely useful if used correctly. It works great! It's the most advanced RD out there. The only problem it ever really had was a poor ramp up, that's been fixed. I love mine and so does most every person that owns one.

    Default Skewed Video's

Ignore the video's that are produced by haters and those who didn't take the time to learn how to properly use the Lockout feature before doing so.

I too at first after seeing the video's was afraid to trust the lockout feature, now I use it extensively. I probably have over 50 false signals locked out, easy 50, likely more. It's not a problem or a concern to me ever.

Sure if your an idiot and lock out a true police signal it's possible, if however your just marginally careful and make sure its an actual false you will have 0 problems with it. I'll pass by an area at least 3 times on different days to confirm a signal is actually a false before I lock it out.

The advanced features of the 9500i also can further enhance your ability to determine you are only locking out the false signal you are after. Expert Mode will show you if there are multiple signals in the area at the same time. SpecDisplay will show you the exact Frequency of the signal you are wanting to lockout as well.

They have made the thing as idiot proof as possible, but its still only as smart as the person using it. What you're seeing in the videos are not limitations of the 9500i, but instead limitations of the people using it.

For the type of driving your talking about the 9500i is your only sensible option, the lockout feature will soon become a thing you would otherwise not be able to live without.

    Default V1 User Video

I think you'll find this video will explain alot about why so many V1 users claim the 9500i isn't as good as it is.

Here's a video of experienced V1 users during their review of the 9500i...
