whats the average operating voltage of an x50 when the car is running?
What are the dangerous limits?

I don't have a X50 but a properly functioning electrical system should run approximately 13-14 volts with the engine running. You'll see some variation depending on engine speed and electrical load, but it shouldn't drift more than a volt or so.
What are you seeing on yours? Are you thinking your V1 problems are due to your electrical system? According to the V1 site, it's designed to operate at anywhere from 11 to 16 volts.
I think the X50 will warn you if your voltage is too high or low. I know my old Bel Vector STi did.

NO idea on whats dangerous.
According to the X50 manual, it warns if the voltage is below 10.5 volts or above 16.5 volts. So, outside this range would be bordering on "dangerous".

Mine is running 13.3 V with the car off, 14.5-14.7 with the car running (running valentines hard wire).
I tried looking in the manual but couldnt find that, thanks everyone
That all sounds perfectly consistent with what would be expected. Freaky voltage does tend to do weird things to RD's, but that's normally in low-voltage conditions (ex after starting the car).
Here is what they say in the manual. If the vehicle's voltage drops below 10.5 volts, a low voltage warning is displayed, followed by an audible alert. A high voltage warning is also given if the voltage goes above 16.5 volts. The high-voltage warning is also followed by an audible alert.I think youre Ok
I typically see 12.9 - 13.3 volts with the car running and heavy electrical load. Haven't tried it with the car off.
mine maxed out at 14.2 last time i checked, maybe less now that i added my lidatek.
13.9 consistantly when running.
