Well, got my SR7 installed on Wednesday. There's nothing to take pictures of save the head unit (which I'll get to in a moment) and the amusingly worthless front laser sensor. I declined installation of the rear laser sensor.
So far I have noticed the unit to be less sensitive than my dashboard 8500x50 on my known K-band door openers. For people who live in Plano: There is a nice strong K-band false on Southbound Central Expressway (Highway 75) right before the Plano Parkway overpass. My 8500x50 will detect it at 100 feet and ramp from lo to high within a second. The SR7 detected it at medium strength at ~ 50 feet. There are two other K-band falses (a Walgreens and a V gas station) which the SR7 fails to detect at all. With the 8500x50 I would get a warning on my morning trip and 2 warnings at low signal for my evening commute.
So far I have not had a Ka hit (our cops run C/O Ka).
I asked for the head unit to be placed before the gauge cluster in my LS. The installer did place it, but it is located too close to the cluster which prevents me from reading the Lexus display info (MPG, milage left, tank average, etc). Recessed that far it also causes a glare on the gauge cluster cover during the day time. You can imagine I am disappointed about the result. I am going to take my car to Park Place and have them move the head unit forward so that it kills the glare and I can see the Lexus MFD line again.
So far I'm neutral on the SR7 unit. It is nice to not have a corded 8500x50 to carry around, but I will have to see if the radar receiver location compromised my detection ability. If so I could see myself getting a 9500ci to replace the SR7.
