Otherwise, you need to somehow connect a lighter socket to your DC power suppy, so that you can plug your 9500i's smartcord into it
Jim these links are exactly what I've been looking for as the adapter is always out of stock at Escort and elsewhere. Any of these will work fine?
Anyhow, will this program work with my 9500ix? I've been backtracking through this thread to see if it does so you'll have to excuse me but I had to respond about these links. Thanks so much for this program and your efforts.

They -should- work fine. But, I can't say for sure because I haven't tested each one.

I don't know if anyone has tried it with the 9500ix yet...

Thanks Jim. I'll err on the side of caution and opt for the RS unit which looks more robust and similar to the Escort adapter. Roger on the 9500ix compatibility, thanks.

No matter what AC-DC adapter you use, make sure that it is fully regulated -- not just regulated. Fully regulated adapters produce the rated output voltage even when no device is plugged in whereas some partially regulated adapters produce higher than specified output voltages until a device is plugged into them. I know for sure that the Radio Shack 22-505 AC-to-DC Portable Power Supply is fully regulated.

Good info MEM! Yeah I figured the RS unit to be more robust and looked to be the one whereas the others looked cheap besides their price

Sorry to hear that, just when I was going to give it a shot too. I'm sure it could be adapted though to work with it, thoughts Professor?

Re: 9500i Commander 0.0.3 Beta Released GPS SOFTWARE
First, plug in your 9500i to the AC-DC adapter. Then make sure that it is powered off via its power button. Now, old down the MRK and BRT buttons and continue to hold them down for several seconds until eventually the unit shows "USB" on the display. Once "USB" is showing on the 9500i's display, you can plug it into your computer via a USB cable. Your computer should then detect the 9500i as a Generic HID Compliant Input Device and then install a generic driver for it. At this point launch Jimbonzzz's 9500i Commander software. It should then be able to both see and talk to your 9500i.
