    Default Need opinion on 9500i

I just bought a new Escort 9500i from Bestbuy yesterday and it seems like its a really old built 11 07. I noticed ramp up issue with it last night when going into work. I also heard that they supposedly have new hardware inside the 9500i on later built 9500i.

So my question is should I return the RD back to bestbuy and take a 15% hit or call Escort later Monday and have them put a new software update on it? I am not sure if they made any modifications to hardware so I just some opinions.

If it is truly a 1107 than its even older than my beloved 1707 that i wouldn’t trade for the world. (i like the old ramp up)
I would ether send it in for the flash or exchange it with BB. Some others here have been successful exchanging at BB with out a restocking fee. Ether way you will be good to go and Escort will take care of you if you send it in.

Isn't the new one supposedly have better detection range?

Supposedly, but I think certain people perceived a more active ramp up as better detection range.
If you can, try to exchange it with BB, Say its broken or something. However there is no way of knowing if the new one is any newer.

I’m willing to bet the flash doesn’t just update ramp up, but also optimize the component values in parts of the circuit for the better sensitivity people are claiming.

Problem is that I checked online and they're out of stock. It means I probably picked up the last one they had in stock. Do you know if they've implemented/upgraded any hardware in it?? Decisions decisions

Them being out of stock is a good thing, it guarantees you will get a newer one. Maybe if you go in now and they don’t have it to exchange they will wave the restocking fee.
Hopefully a few others will chime in here with there return at BB experiences.

Are you sure that they will charge a restocking fee if its only been a couple of days? If they don't, you might consider returning it and buying one directly from Escort. They are running a 'trade-in' promo now - basically, they will give you $50 for any old Escort made RD and $30 for other brands. Depending where you are located, you won't have to pay sales tax - just shipping.

There is no restocking fee to exchange it, only to return it. I am not sure of the Escort boxes, I don't think you can check the manufacturing date on them. Also, as long as the unit was factory sealed, just send it to Escort for an update, you will not be charged since you bought it from an authorized dealer.

Wow the return policy stinks! I guess they do this so they can stay away from the RD rental business
