Wouldn't it be convenient if Belscort's larger authorized resellers were set up with the hardware and software to flash update their products with the latest firmware? Think about it -- there are new laser guns coming out, Belscort periodically releases new firmware updates for their products to address falsing issues, ramp-up issues and/or whatever -- yet Belscort has a vested interest in keeping their firmware highly proprietary. Thus there are huge security issues involved for Escort. But what if these issues could be addressed -- especially since the flash firmware would be provided only to select authorized reseller store locations? This avenue has got to be better than the general public being able to download updates for the 9500i via the Internet. The other issues are AC-DC power supply connections to the RD, custom cables for those RDs which use the RJ-11 style power/flash interface rather than the USB interface, and verifying that the flash was successfully done.
I would drive 2 hours to get my Belscort RD flashed rather than to be without it for 10 days just because I had to send it off for a firmware flash update.
Anyway, either this is a neat idea or Escort will never talk to me on the phone ever again for even suggesting it.
