I know KaPro and a couple others have been patiently awaiting me to take a POP while in SpecDisplay so I can report the actual freq used.
Took 2 POP hits just about 20 minutes ago from the time of this post and here's the bad news, while in SpecDisplay, when you take a Ka band POP alert it does not display the Frequency, all it displays is "POP" in the center of the display and you get the full power alert tone with no indication of the signal strength.
I'm also suspecting these were not actual POP hits, but instead false positives, worse news, I could not determine why this was showing up as a POP instead of just normal Ka CO.
Both times happened (by the same LEO's, about 10 minutes apart). They had me pinned in between them. The LEO 1/2 mile in front of me was running CO Ka at 33.740GHz, the LEO 1/4 mile behind me was running CO Ka at 33.655GHz, when hit by both of them at the same time the 9500i broke into a constant POP alert.
I picked up the LEO in front first at CO Ka 33.740 then the other turned onto the same road from behind me almost instantaneously. The one from behind turned to go down another street and the display went from POP to showing the forward LEO as CO Ka again.
1/2 mile down the road he was in a parking lot shooting up the street at me. I pulled into this lot to get gas and while getting gas he grabbed a customer. His customer pulled into the parking lot for the stop directly in front of me, LEO pulled in behind her (20 feet in front of me) and got out of his car leaving his CO Ka on, originally at 33.740GHz. While he was out of the car and I was setting still pumping gas I noticed the freq displayed on him first changed from 33.740 to 33.743, then to 33.744 over about a 5-8 minute span.
Then I went back to POP on my display while he was still out of his vehicle talking on his radio. I looked behind me and sure enough, the second one was pulling in behind us to offer him back up (guess the petite young girl by herself in the vehicle made the original LEO nervous so he called for back up?).
Once the second LEO passed me and pulled up side by side to the first my display went from POP to bouncing back and forth on both their frequencies, 33.744 a couple seconds, then 33.655 a couple seconds and back and forth like that the entire time till I finished getting gas and left.
It would seem that a front and rear attack on me like this forced a POP display, yet I've been hit from front and back at the same time before and didn't have this happen so I'm not sure why this one time made a difference.
I thought this might be worth mentioning though since if another 9500i user here has POP enabled and sees a POP alert you may want to be cautious about a possible front and rear assault on you taking place as opposed to an actual POP.
