Default 8500 nonx50 needing repairs again

Bought this 8500 nonx50 new in Sep 01 and it has been great. Was sent in for repairs back in 2006(?) for constant ka falsing.

Well, it has started again giving weak Ka alert about every 5 min when nothing is around, also weak k false alert.

How much is escort charging for repair these days? Anyone think its not a good idea to get repaired again? Wonder if they will slip me a new x50 board in there instead of repairing mine?

I believe it is 59 bucks, but double check, I think Bels are more money might be 79 bucks. As for board chances are no, if they can not fix it by a strange chance I bet they would offer you the upgrade program.

I sent my old 8500 to be updated ($79) and bought a 9500I, it sounds like its time for you to upgrade to a new RD.

I have the X50 in another vehicle.
I can't justify the new RD; only 5 miles to work each way and all through country driving. No agressive radar traps in use. Even going to town, bet I have less that 3 radar encounters in a month.

The 8500 has served me well. I noticed that the false beeping does not always occur. Will probably send it in later this week.

    What is warranty on repairs?

Do you mean 8500 blue? not the 9500i blue, because the 9500 blue would still be under warranty.

Called CS at Escort today and they originally quoted me $79.95 for repairs. Emailed me later and said they would do it for $40.

Since I'm a long time customer, I guess they gave me a break.

    I'm shipping it out tomorrow.
