Solo S2 Versus X50 - My Experience

I just checked out the above link and I think I'm having some trouble with the math.

According to the test, the X-band range was 4.5 miles for the X50 and 4.0 miles for the S2. So the difference here is 11%, right?

And for K-band range, the X50 was 4.3 miles versus 4.0 miles for the S2. For Ka-band range, the X50 was also 4.3 miles versus 4.0 miles for the S2. The difference is 7% for both K and Ka-bands.

Also, the reviewer doesn't recommend cordless detectors mainly due to lack of POP. Range wise, the S2 seems to hold up fairly well as compared to the X50. So if one doesn't need POP detection, it seems like the S2 is a reasonable choice.

I realize this is just one person's test but it doesn't seem like the difference between a corded and cordless model is 20 to 30%. Or did I miss something here?

The S2 would be a reasonable choice if your looking to get a speeding ticket. All coldless detectors in my opinion are junk and they always has beeen.

Autoweek preferred the Solo2 to any other detector.

I have a friend who has one and swears by it, I don't think they are as bad as you're making them out to be Radarboy.

Its a great detector but cant perform as corded ones.

If you have a laser jammer and your city runs mostly radar. The s2 seems it would be fine. When you travel to other cities go with the x50.
