    Default laser ticket no alert

driving about 11:30 at night so dark

the tx state trooper got me with a laser at the top of hill. didnt see him till last second

    no alert from my x50

i know they shoot laser at the front grill of your car and i have my x50 hardwired high. but i dont understand how i got zero warning, especially at night. i drove by a few speed traps before and i got that loud laser warning before. wouldnt it be harder to aim at night?

i know if i did get an alert, i still would be fried, but im jus bummed that my x50 was silent. :[

i got the x50 last fall in october.

o, and im jus venting so this post may be pointless :]

It's because the X50 sucks at detecting lidar. According to the testing, the X50 only detects lidar 45% of the time while the Valentine One detects it 99.44% of the time.

^ No need to apologize for venting.

^ You answered your own question, right there.

Search up brother ELVATO's "high versus mid versus low" mounting test of his x50, against an actual police LIDAR. You can easily see why your detector may have missed the true "bumperline" shot.

This can be especially true at closer ranges, where the laser's output is much less "spread out," and thus may not hit upon your detector's laser sensor.

Additionally, remember that the Escort in-vehicle mounted detectors certainly are not known for their laser sensitivity. Although the 9500i may signal a coming change in this area, for the previous-iteration products, this is still rather sadly true.

Finally - no matter how unlikely - it's still possible that you were nabbed by, say, Laser Atlanta Stealth Mode.....which the past-iteration x50 simply did not detect.

Your first mistake is believing that your RD can save you from Laser. Suppose your Escort did alert... you would still have a ticket.

There are all kinds of opinions of high vs low as far as laser is concerned, but it is meaningless if you do not understand laser is a spot 3-6" on your car, your RD is no where near the targeting area, and again if it was you have no reaction time. Your just banking on too much chance for you to get a save.

The only detector that allows for enough variation to alert to scatter as a prewarning is the "almighty" V1. But even then only a fool would believe he can beat a direct laser ticket.

    hey corean1786,

I'm from San Antonio too. I was just wondering what street you were driving on, cause I have never gotten tagged by laser in SA.

With the large frontal area of my semi I very seldom get an alert when shot with laser from my STI. Laser is deadly and without a CB radio or a jammer you are a sitting target. The CB radio saves me cause to shoot laser they are normally positioned so anyone can see and warn me well ahead of time. I agree jammer time if jammers are legal in your state.
