This past Saturday my wife and I were driving on I-95 north from Raleigh headed into Virginia. It was mid-day, light traffic. My wife was driving about 80 I would guess (PSL was 65) when all the sudden BAM! - full bar strength K band alert from the x50. She tapped the brakes and brought our speed down to PSL. The alert lasted about 3-5 seconds and then silence. We were both looking all over but saw no LEOs. The highway was divided with four lanes on each side and a rather large median with lots of bushes and trees - plenty of good hiding spots. But we saw nothing and continued on our way without any further alerts or LEO sightings. This was about 20 miles before we reached the Virginia state line.
I know this is hard to say but could this have been a false alarm? Do falses ever occur that suddenly and at a full bar to boot? Or was this IO from a well concealed LEO targeting someone on our side or perhaps the opposite side?
