8500 X50 prone to false Laser alerts?

On several occasions in recent weeks, by X50 has thrown a LASER alert. Each time, there was no cop present anywhere that I could see, and once it was when I pulled up to a restaurant. Has anyone else experienced this odd behavior? I know I can't for sure say there were no police in the area, but would neon/strobe lighting trigger a false alarm?

I can't speak for the X50 in particular (since I don't own one), but my V1 can false Laser when it sees certain neon lighting (were you behind an Envoy or Trailblazer?), strobes (ambulances, fire trucks, cruisers), or certain high-end SUVs with laser-based cruise controls (the Infinitis are notorious for this).

Next time you get such a false, see if there's an Infiniti SUV coming toward you.

Also, electrical noise can cause laser falses with some detectors. Some people report falses when they have the engine running at certain RPMs or when they turn some accessory on or off.

My laser alert has only been triggered 3 times in a year.

1st was a fire truck and other emergency vehicles working on a wreck
2nd was an actual cop using laser
3rd another fire truck, i was following right behind him and it triggered.

This is an X50 as well.

I've had no laser alerts on my X50 for the 3. 5 weeks I've owned it. It's the only band I've not had falses on.

I've never even had a laser alert and once it was in the city with an officer on the side of the road clearly using laser. I tried to circle around, but by the time I got back he already caught some $.

The only flaws I hear about is from my g/f who says I watch too much espn and play on this site too much, but what does she know. :wink:
