Great idea, and concept that does allow for a quieter detector, but Im now 100% positive without a shadow of doubt that it has again blocked out a legit threat. Two LEOs sitting having a chat this am in a local school parking lot, one (facing away from me) had their kband on. I receieved one or two short alerts, then it showed a blocked signal. I was far away from my previously locked out areas by probably 1/2 in one direction, and 1/4 in another direction. I removed the GPS filter to find he was shooting high levels of K and the detector went nuts after I passed and he was facing my rear. I pulled over, hit the GPS filter, and the signal was again blocked. This is time number two. Its agreat detector, but give some thought to the risk your taking because it DOES BLOCK LEGIT THREATS on ocassions, and 2 times experiencing it myself makes it NOT WORTH the threat of using it.
Most occasions where these FALSES are located, are congested city areas that I'd never "speed" in anyway. Unfortunately, TODAY was a perfect example of an issue. I was what I'd consider far enough away from the congested falses, and I still had a blocked LEO - what's worse, is that although I'd never be driving "recklessly" through an area like this SCHOOL ZONE, the PSL is around 10mph - and they're ITCHING to nail people for 15 or 20mph. I'm LUCKY that I got the one or two blips early on before it went to completely blocked, or I probably would've been screwed doing 15 in a 10mph school zone with NO WARNING ahead of time of them shooting radar.
Now - help me decide if I should keep the 9500i (with TrueLock off) or if I should switch back to a brand new 8500 X50...or dare I say, sell the new 9500i somewhere and buy a V1.
As far as I know the benefits (excluding TrueLock) are higher sensitivity, auto speed alert adjustments, and light adjustments.
How much better is the sensitivity on the 9500i?
The 8500 X50 has a better ramp up, and drivers angled interface.
Any help is appreciated. I just don't know if the extra $160 is worth the GPS feature if I'm not going to use it anymore.
I'm already hard wired for an ESCORT model, so I'd like to stick with it - and the only way I could get a V-1 now would be if I sold my new 9500i on ebay or something...otherwise I could send the 9500i back to ESCORT for a new X50 instead.
