Default 8500 X50 rattling against windshield

Some pads from a cabinet drawer got rid of the noise until they moved. Is there a better lasting (and looking) solution. The roads are rough in MA and the rattling can be heard right through the stereo in my WRX.

are you sure the the detector is angled right? mine is angled so its not touching the windshield at all..theres a SMALLLL gap...so with my 2 subs hitting HARD it never rattles on the windshield

I have this problem when mounting anywhere but on the lower left hand driver side of the windshield, now on that area, it won't rattle regardless of road conditions or the stereo. For the x50, it can decrease laser detection and rear radar detection (the little catcher on top) and your radar infront of you if you're in a clump of other cars.

Personally I haven't found a way except that to make the rattling stop, I have been searching around for a better mount, but have yet to find one. The only thing that came close was this mount that clamps down on your dash and sits like

Hopefully that stayed in tact, but its basically almost a right angle and the detector would sit on that. The problem is where I want it mounted, it would cause an obstruction of my view.

This is your reason for the rattle.

    Default rattling X50

I put a very slight bend in the metal mount and it stopped rattling. The bend has to be in approx. the middle of the slotted section of the mount.
You'll know if you've got to much bend in it because it won't slide into the detector. Hope this helps. Scott

I've got mine hardwired and above the rear-view mirror. This worked in my 02 rex and my 04 sti.

Put a piece of velcro (the fuzzy side) on the bottom of your detector.

The velcro should be between the detector and the mirror, so that when you position your mirror, it's just touching.

I've got two 12" subs, live in MA and don't have a problem

If you've got an 05+ and have those dots on the windshield behind the mirror, you'll need to do something else, as the suction cups won't stick...

    Good luck.
