Only took about 15 mins to do. Wired it to my cars UGDO and grounded it to my moonroof motor and went to ACC more and we had power. I can't wait to get out on the road and see what it is like not to have that wire in my face!

Its a beautiful thing to regain your windshield, and have the RD in action at the same time. I remember how nice it was when I first did it.
cool!
I plan to hardwire my 9500i sometime next week. Radar Roy has a installation video on Youtube that's shows how to hardwire a escort. Oringinally I was going to have bestbuy do the install, but Roy made it look so easy with the direct wire cord + add a circuit. Thanks Roy! So I think I'll try to do it myself. I ordered a directwire smartcord today from radarbusters.com with free shipping.
I too can't wait to get that coiled cord outta my face.
It does make it nice hardwired.
Did mine using an fuse tap into the acc fuse.
I got this link from Youtube. Its Radar Roy video on how to hardwire a radar detector. I found it very useful. Thanks again Roy!
I think it be nice to have all related videos put together in a thread or something. Also, a FAQ would help many of us.

hansenc, nice install. Did you use a smart cord? If so, where did u place it?

No smart cord, I might change it later but I just couldn't find a good palce besides the ashtray to put the mute button. I thought about taking apart the smart cord and relocating the led's and the button and just putting them someplace on my dash without the labels but I'm not really wanting to drill into the dash of my brand new car just yet.
I also made a video showing how to hardwire one:

Very cool info! I loved that add a circuit when I saw it used in a video posted here but it would of taken a lot ot get ot my fuse box so I went the old-school way.
Here is a crappy pic I took.
