Default Great K detection this AM around curve

I think since it rained last night a lot of the humidity has lifted and its a bit drier air today. I had great detection against K band this AM while sitting at a red light. The green dot shows where I was sitting at an intersection waiting to turn left. The blue/red is where the cop was approaching from. I got great early detection on his K band way before he made the corner and was in view. Lots of traffic ahead of him, and between us both as well. He could've been further back than I show, as he was moving and I don't know how far away he was until I saw him make the corner.

Wish it was always this good!

If the scale on the map is right that's a little over a quarter of a mile, off axis. Is that good for K band?

I think its fairly accurate scale. Maybe 1000 feet from my intersection to his.

I don't know if thats "good for K band" to be honest with you...I always think my X50 was better on early warnings but maybe thats due to its more accurate RampUp, but everyone says that the 9500i is more sensitive.

I'm only comparing it to the 9500i's usual day to day performance, and seemed like one of the better early warnings that I've gotten lately.

If you were stopped, waiting at the light, that, I think, is about the usual distance ( reasonable? I honestly don't know - i.e. look at the hypothetical scenario of what would happen if you decided to book-it from a hole-shot out of the light, and the enforcer just happens to crest the curve or come around the corner.... ) to have first picked up the signal, given my own experiences.

When I'm moving - especially when my road-speed is in-excess of the low-speed cut-off on "Auto" mode - K-band sensitivity goes way up. Again, this is from my personal experience, with two of my local townships *very* active on K-band, both mobile and stationary, and with both I/O and C/O usage.

This brings me to another thought - I actually wonder that, perhaps, for my area/usage, it might not benefit me more to use "City" mode, instead.

The LEO was obviously in moving mode so his detection distance is greatly reduced, and your ability to pick him up is also reduced.
I feel if you are warned any amount of time before you can actually see the LEO it’s a good save.

My guess from where you detected him, and where you saw him, it was at least a 1/2mi if the speed limit was over 35.

Possibly but I don't think it was that far ("1/2 mile)" to be honest. I really wish I knew for sure if my X50 just seemed better or was. RampUp was so accurate that I had an amazing feel of how far away the LEO was all the time.
In this case I got a few intermittant blips of K, increased slightly, and then was at 9 for a few seconds before I saw him. Although a save is a save, I'd have to disagree with what constitues a "good" save. If a 1 second warning before you SEE the LEO occurs, its really not worth as much when by the time you jack the breaks and nose dive he's looking at you. Obviously with the higher sensitivity, if you get a warning 5-10 seconds before you see him its a lot more valuable. Time to slow and achieve a fairly constant speed under the limit before he has a visual on you.

An Escort Radar detector, in an Escort section, of a Radar Detector Forum. My guess is you had a hard time in school.

I was being honest and serious trying to see what the discussion was about. Honestly, it doesn't look like the detection you received wasn't good at all.

^ Exactly my feelings, too, with what I've seen.
