Default How much do those Cobras bug you with Ka band falses?

Today I went by ACE and found two new screws for the 8500 since my other two fell out! I was able to find longer ones and they went in perfectly. I love that place. Three times I've been for weird screws and each they have what I needed.

That was late morning. Tonight on my way home I am two seconds from the highway from the circular on ramp when Ka starts to go real weak then off and as I am getting in I see a JEEP speed up and get over to kind of get out of the way of people getting on or so that he didn't have to slow down. Very soon after this is when Ka was up to three bars and stayed there for about a minute and would flicker back and forth from one to three but mostly held three. I wonder if it is him so I speed up as he slows but I couldn't really see into his truck when I went by so I can't be sure if it was him or someone else around me.

Does that sound like one of those Cobra hits? That was weird for it to stay so low for so long then nothing. I say the JEEP since that is what I saw when it started going off again. Maybe it was something else?

Cobra false on the V1. Notice the Escort SR7 is silent.

Wow, that held it for awhile. Those arrows are pretty cool, I must admit.

When I was behind him and off the side it kept going off and off but once I got ahead of him it was gone for good. I wish it had been brighter out so I could of seen what other action was going on.

I have seen a few Cobs while driving on the roads but never got anything from mine. I honestly thought it was broken because of how weird it was acting. I was afraid those longer screws did something to it!

The Escorts seem to track better to the front so your experience would be consistent with that.

My old .813 would let go like that with other junk detector head to head. But my .826 and .863 don't. As far as I can recall the V1 Ka filtering started to get better just after pop 2 was released I think something like .819. My .826 was really good maybe had 2 or 3 ka falses in 1.5 years my .863 has had 3 junked out radars Ka false alerts to date.
I would suggest you turn your V1 off and then back on if it still alerts turn down the vol. knob and enjoy the light show as the V1 is detecting a known police operating band.

    ejd -

How old is your x50 ?

My early Rev5 (on "City LoX") goes nuts around Cobras.

My 9500i (4307, on "Auto") has been very, very quiet and very, very good at rejecting such falses, for the most part.

    The difference is honestly night-and-day.

The difference is even more startling with POP enabled.

It's just a regular 8500 so it's an old timer! I am not sure of the age. I took it apart once for 'inspection' and there was a sticker saying when it was inspected by someone legit but I could only make out the month. I was itching for an X50 but I think it may of been a scam. $100 was a little too low for a blue!

As it was doing this last night I actually took it down and did a reset while I was driving and when it does that it starts by saying 'Rev. 13' if that helps? It was on highway mode and then back to auto after the reset but it fell silent.
