Well ive had my X50 for quite a while and have driven by officers using laser before and never got an alert to laser. Tonight was a dif story, and got an alert about 100 feet from the officer on the side of the road. It was dark and I didnt see him, but luckily I wasnt speeding.
This made me think of a couple of thoughts.
1. I believe that the reason why sometimes we get alerts and sometimes we dont is all from user error on the part of the officer. If he gets part of the windshield when aiming then the x50 will alert. If he sticks to the headlight we dont.
2. With this range of being shot and basically so well hidden at night, I dont even think the best jammer would jtg all the time at that range. Which leads to the question of if an officer is aiming and hits your windshield would a jammer still jam that high? I dont think so and believe it only helps for headlamp and front license plate shots. It would be normal for an officer thats not getting a reading to move the gun around until he does and he should get the reading from the windshield.
It was nice I guess to know that my X50 does alert to Laser, but I also know that if I was speeding I would have gotten a ticket. This proves to me again that Laser detection on a radar detector is useless and nothing but a marketing idea.
Again this was in the city that I've seen Laser used and in the same exact spot. So far still safe on the highways outside of the city.
I know this could go under real experiences or for that matter laser jammers, but for those other X50 owners that were like me and never had a laser alert, this post should let them know that it does work.
